Four years ago, my mum — my best friend — was diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS). It’s a disease with no cure, and she now relies on a wheelchair every day.
Beyond the physical challenges, one of the hardest parts has been the loss of confidence. In New Zealand, wheelchair accessories are often expensive, inaccessible, and lacking in style. Watching her struggle pushed me to take action.
I created VivaWheels to sell affordable, practical, and stylish wheelchair accessories — to make life easier, boost confidence, and help others like my mum feel seen and supported.
Alongside this, we are committed to raising awareness of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), a chronic illness that affects millions worldwide but is often misunderstood or overlooked. By sharing resources and personal stories, we aim to increase understanding, visibility, and compassion for those living with ME/CFS.
